A Background Built on Service, Learning, and Hands-On Experience

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of respected organizations. Each one has helped shape my skills, broaden my knowledge, and prepare me to better serve my community.

Welcome! I’m Carl Krigbaum

I’m Carl Krigbaum, owner of Abiqua Handy Service—and a lifelong problem-solver. My journey began in 2001 when I joined the U.S. military as a mathematician. Over the years, I had the opportunity to learn and perform a variety of roles, beginning my path as a true factotum: a versatile professional with a wide range of hands-on skills.

After leaving the service in 2009, I earned a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Education and went on to spend a decade (2011–2021) in Building Maintenance and Operations for two state park departments. These parks welcomed millions of visitors annually, and I took pride in preserving their facilities—both modern and historic. From daily upkeep to structural repairs, I worked across residential and commercial spaces to ensure safety, functionality, and longevity.

Today, I bring that same commitment to excellence to the community I call home.

Based in Scotts Mills, serving Mt. Angel and living in Silverton, where my partner and I are raising our two daughters. I’ve built this business on a foundation of integrity, quality, and craftsmanship. Whether you’re looking for help with home repairs, property maintenance, or tackling a long-overdue project list, I’m here to make sure the job gets done right.

Let’s get your “Honey Do” list done—professionally, efficiently, and with care.

These experiences have given me a well-rounded foundation—from technical skills to leadership, safety, and service—that I now bring to every job through Abiqua Handy Service.

Where will Abiqua Handy Service work?

I will come to your home or commercial building in Mt. Angel, Scotts Mills (our office location) and Silverton. I will work 30 feet above ground and 6 feet below ground. Indoors and outdoors.

This door was slammed so much that it started falling out of the wall.
We put it back.

When is Abiqua Handy Service available?

Please contact me to schedule an appointment.

If you can see light around your door, air is also moving around your door. Stop letting the cold in and paying to heat the outdoor.

Here we have the white door, brown seal, and tan threshold. The old torn seal is in the front.

This is a different door that had TOO GOOD of a seal. The owner had to slam the door closed and push/ kick the door open. Hinges and door length were the culprits. I got this door closing with a gentle pull.

As a licensed, bonded, and insured LLC, I take pride in doing quality work—safely, legally, and professionally. That means there are certain jobs I do not take on, either due to legal restrictions or because they require more manpower than I operate with.

Here’s a breakdown of what I cannot or do not do:

Major Construction & Remodels

  • I do not remodel rooms or build additions.
  • I do not take on jobs that require multiple workers or heavy lifting beyond what one person can safely manage.
  • I do not repair or replace roofing.

⚠️ Electrical Work – Not Permitted

By Oregon law (ORS 479.620 & OAR 918-282-0120), only licensed electricians can perform electrical installations or wiring work.
👉 I do not install or modify any wiring, outlets, switches, or circuit panels.
Please hire a licensed electrician for all electrical work.

⚠️ Plumbing Work – Not Permitted

Under Oregon plumbing law (ORS 447.040 & OAR 693.030), plumbing work involving drinking water or wastewater requires a licensed plumber.
👉 I do not install or repair water lines, fixtures, or drainage systems.
✅ I can perform basic drain cleaning (e.g., slow-draining sinks, tubs, or toilets).

⚠️ Irrigation & Landscaping Restrictions

I do not hold a Landscape Contractors Board license and therefore:

  • I cannot design or install irrigation systems
  • I cannot perform work that involves compressed air blowouts or major landscape projects
✅ I can perform basic valve maintenance (e.g., opening/closing valves for the season)
✅ I am allowed to build fences, decks, patios, arbors, walkways, and retaining walls under my CCB license.
